About This Database:
The Full Scope of Ancient and Medieval History

Formerly called Ancient History & Culture, Ancient and Medieval History Online has been expanded to cover eight civilizations—ancient Egypt, ancient Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, ancient Rome, ancient and medieval Africa, medieval Europe, the Americas, and ancient and medieval Asia. Users can research each civilization in depth or use the browse feature to conduct comparative studies of events and developments across civilizations. This expansive database offers an unprecedented amount of information about these civilizations and their places in history, with content drawn from Facts On File’s acclaimed print references.

With thousands of carefully selected entries covering prehistory through the 1500s, this redesigned online database features a user-friendly interface, increased functionality, new content, and Learning Centers that pull forward specially selected entries and related topics to encourage easy research. Other helpful features include many new primary sources, as well as new images, new and updated maps, and a timeline that can be viewed through the Learning Centers to focus on the major civilizations—or viewed in its entirety, sortable by date. Search results are now organised under tabs by record type, so users can more easily locate desired information.
